LITTLE ELSEWHERE

Three small places that carry on without you. Rendered live in your browser, one file each, stored fully on Ethereum.

01

What this is

We built three places. Each is a model, in the old sense: layered card on a trestle, every contour a step. Then we made every one of them work.

Port Alder, Borrowmere and Megève are not films. Each is a single self-contained file, rendered live in your browser, and when you open it the place is already at work: cranes lifting in Port Alder, carts queuing at the gate in Borrowmere, skiers lining up for the next chair in Megève.

It is generative art in the older sense of the word. Daily life unfolds through interacting rules: each machine and each person follows a small set of them, and the day you watch is the day those rules happen to produce. Leave one running and this afternoon need not match yesterday’s. You can steer the camera, run the clock and change the weather, and none of it needs you to.

And each file is the token: code and all, stored on Ethereum itself. Open one in a hundred years and, if there is still an Ethereum and still a browser, the place should still be at work.

02

Rules, not running order

Daily life here unfolds through interacting rules. We wrote what each thing is allowed to want, and let the place sort out the order.

No. 01 · Port Alder

Harbour deliveries

A crate comes off a fishing boat: shore crane, landing table, porter, market scales. Each takes the nearest job it is allowed to, and the boat waits until the lifting gear is clear. The order is settled on the quay, not in advance.

No. 02 · Borrowmere

Town routines

Carts queue at the gate at dawn. It reopens at 06:30, and carts and people already crossing are allowed to clear before it closes. The market trades from 07:00 to 17:00, and not every day is a market day.

No. 03 · Megève

Lift journeys

A skier joins the queue, sits, rides the lift, steps off and picks the next run. Eight working lifts and eleven piste sections turn those small choices into a day on the mountain.

About AIporium

We make small places that carry on after you stop looking.

Little Elsewhere began with a harbour in Maine, then a walled town of the 1380s and a ski village in the Alps. Each is built the way a model-maker would build it, layer by layer, and then given rules and left to get on with its day.

Why make them? Because a place is more than a picture of one. A harbour is cranes waiting for their turn; a market is people who do not know they are being watched. We wanted to build little elsewheres you can visit for as long as you like, and that quietly carry on without you.

04

Things you will only find if you go looking

01The lighthouse

A steady lantern and sweeping beams above the breakwater. Automated since 1981.

02The gate

Carts queue at dawn. It reopens at 06:30, and carts and people already crossing are allowed to clear before it closes.

03Le S

A warm alpine bar on Rue Charles Feige. Music and coloured lights until 01:00.

More little things
01The stalls

Three boats’ worth on ice by seven, and whatever is left goes for half at eleven.

01The tug

It waits near the working berths. It has one job. Then it goes back to waiting.

01The anglers

Watch the floats. An occasional bite bends the rod, then a silver fish, checked, and into the box. Then they cast again.

02The market

Trading runs from 07:00 to 17:00, and not every day is a market day.

02The masons

They stop work when the light goes, and return at 06:30.

02River mist

It fills the valley and leaves the castle floating above it.

03The red cable car

The Rochebrune cable car of 1933 is presented as the first in France built for skiers.

03The church

An onion-domed tower on the village square, Saint-Jean-Baptiste, its nave built 1687–1692.

03The count

Eight working lifts, eleven piste sections, and a village shuttle with eight seats.

What owning includes. Each work is a 1/1 token on Ethereum, fully on-chain. Owning the token means owning the original artwork. Copyright stays with the artist. Anyone can explore the work for free on this site.

All three live in one contract, public on Etherscan. Find each token on OpenSea or Manifold, or contact @AIporium_ directly.
